Filament
Most items are 3D Printed in PLA (Polylactic Acid), which is a plant-based thermoplastic that is fairly strong, but has a relatively low melting point. My primary supply comes from 3DFuel, and is available in quite a few colors. I also get materials from several other suppliers for specific applications. This includes material-filled filaments like wood or metal, translucent, materials, and additional color options. Please contact me for details on these, or download the filament spreadsheet for all current filaments that I use.
Electronics
Electronics add extra flair to props, but limitations do exist. In particular, for small items there are specific internal space constraints required for fitting in circuity and batteries. I use rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries, which are the same chemistry as most mobile devices such as phones, and as such, similar restrictions can apply when carrying them aboard an aircraft, or shipping them. In most cases, electronics are fully assembled, regardless of whether your order is a kit or not. The most common electronics are simple color LED lights, more complex digital lighting and other options such as sound are also available. Electronics
I get almost all of my basic electronics from Adafruit Industries. In addition to electronics, they maintain an extensive library of tutorials and learning materials that has been invaluable to expand my skills as a creator, as well as providing inspiration and ideas for projects. For more advanced creations I also utilize Arduino microcontrollers, an open source electronics platform with a strong and active community of contributors. Learn more here.
