As a bit of a side project, I made a model of Keith’s Galra dagger, as it was a fairly simple design and easy to print. I’m quite pleased with the result, though I haven’t decided what I think the final color of the blade should be. Some kind of purple would make sense, but one of the reference images I used has a pastel grey-blue that I like. I also did a test print of a glow-in-the-dark one that is really cool.

As I seem to have a tendency to do, I over-scaled the size of the model while designing it. I scaled down the test print a full 50% before I printed it, to make it a more reasonable dagger size instead of a sword. That said, after finishing the dagger I modeled the full size sword form as well. In the test print for the dagger you can see a seam in the blade that I had designed in that would have been necessary to print at full size but with the scaled down version I can print the whole blade in one go without that seam.
In the third picture you can also see a version with a leather wrapped handle. This was originally a custom request that I liked enough to make a permanent option, since it only took a minor tweak to the handle design to accommodate. Plus it looks awesome.
